YLK CLASS 32 - RETREAT

Youth Leadership Kearney Class #32 spent the day at UNK in the Nebraskan Student Union in Kearney, Nebraska. To start the day, Derek Rusher and Josh Erickson led the group with some icebreaker activities and spoke about the importance of teamwork and how to have a direct conversation face to face. Josh also talked about the 5 C’s of a relationship and how close you should be with certain people.

Next, Brenda Jochum led the group with CliftonStrengths for Students presentation. Brenda discussed how important it is to know your top strengths and how to use them in every situation. The group was able to talk with others and understand how everyone has different strengths.

Afterward, UNK provided the YLK class 32 a free meal from Chick-fil-A. Then we got to visit the UNK spirit store to pick out t-shirts.

Next, Kyle Means, UNK Director of Marketing, presented a public speaking and connections presentation to the group. Kyle taught us about how to give a professional presentation, which involves good body language, a confident voice, and an understanding of your audience. To end the day, we all got together and started brainstorming what we are going to do for our community service project and wrote thank you cards to our sponsors.
