Youth Leadership Kearney Class 31 began their day at Bowman Agronomics in Kearney, Nebraska. Mike Bowman spoke to the group about the different kinds of plants that collect corn. After his talk, he led the class on a tour of Bowman Agronomics, where we saw many types of machinery used in agriculture.

Next, the class traveled to Ward Laboratories, where Nick Ward discussed how their business operates on a day-to-day basis. He then guided us on a tour of the laboratory and explained how they test different kinds of corn.

Afterward, we visited The Sprout House, where Megan Mayo gave us a tour and explained their operations. We then walked over to Sweetwater Hemp, where Brett Mayo provided a tour and described the hemp production process.

The next stop was Bayer, where our guest speaker, Connor Smith from NebraskaLand Bank’s Business and Agricultural Banking division, spoke with us about agricultural finance. Following his talk, Tim Archibald led us on a tour of the Bayer facility.
